This weekend there is only one place to be in Richmond, Dominion Riverrock, which takes place at Brown’s Island from the 17th – 19th. While there is a lot to do what we are most excited about is the Ultimate Air Dogs competition. See the schedule below to make sure you don’t miss any of the fun!

Veterinary MRI, which we pioneered in Richmond, is an amazing diagnostic tool. Not only is it the gold standard in veterinary neurology and neurosurgery but as this image highlights it is also becoming recognized for it’s use in the early detection of bone pathology.

We’re Growing!

Our hospital is expanding so that we can provide room for our rapidly growing oncology and dermatology practices. This expansion which will be complete in a few months will greatly expand our capacity to assist clients and patients. We can’t wait for it to open but in the meantime we will post occasional photos of the construction progress!

This is Eugene a patient of Chesapeake Veterinary Cardiology Associates – CVCA at Dogwood and a former resident at the Richmond SPCA. We couldn’t be happier to hear how well he is doing and that he found his forever home.

It might only be Tuesday but we’re already looking forward to the weekend! Woofstock 2013 is this Saturday at Bryan Park from 10 am – 2 pm and our team will be there!

The generous words of our clients tell our story in a unique and personal way. Today we’ll let the owners of Bessie tell you about their recent experience by sharing the kind words they sent to Dr. Skovira:

“I want you to know how much Tommy and I appreciate everything you and your staff did for Bessie and for us. Your compassionate care of Bessie and concern for us was truly remarkable and we will recommend Dogwood to everyone! I don’t know if you have ever heard of or read the book *Good to Great*, by Jim Collins, but he says the most important thing about running a business is to make sure you have the right people, in the right seats, on the bus!

Dogwood definitely does…from Christie, your receptionist, who is phenomenal, to Erin, you, Dr. McDougal, Amy and all the other folks up there that helped us and Bessie. What a wonderful place to bring our babies who need specialty care.”

We couldn’t have said it any better ourselves. Thank you to Bessie’s owners for trusting us with the care of their loved one. Unfortunately, in this case Bessie didn’t make it but we are glad our team could be there to provide the care that both Bessie and her parents needed when they needed it most.

Great Hope…

Our hearts go out to all those in Boston and everywhere who were affected by yesterdays tragedy.

In the face of great tragedy there is often an even greater display of love, hope and courage by those who choose to help. In that way even great tragedies can serve to remind us that love is always more powerful and abundant than hate.
