What is Dogwood Veterinary Emergency and Specialty Center?
Dogwood is home to 24-hour emergency care, as well as 9 independent veterinary specialty practices. We foster a collaborative approach to care. You can contact each specialty practice directly. Please click here for the contact information.
How do I make an appointment?
No appointment is necessary for emergency services. If you would like to schedule an appointment with a specialist, you will need a referral from your primary care veterinarian.
What can I expect during my pet’s first visit?
Our medical team will review the information provided by you and your family veterinarian and conduct an initial assessment of your pet’s health. We will work with you to come up with a treatment plan – including cost estimates – before proceeding with any additional tests or procedures.
What do I need to bring with me to the appointment with a specialist?
In most cases, we will have already been in contact with your family veterinarian, who will send us your pet’s medical records and X-rays. If you have additional medical information that will help us treat your pet, please bring it with you. Please arrive 15-20 minutes before your appointment to fill out any initial paperwork.
Should I feed my pet or give medications before my appointment?
Please check with the service you are visiting for specific guidelines.
Do you offer spay/neuter services, general care or pet vaccinations?
We do not offer preventative pet care. As an emergency and specialty care referral center, we work directly with your family veterinarian as an extended member of your pet’s overall medical team.
