Congratulations Dr. Angharad Waite – 2013 Knowledge Award Recipient

waite

On Friday night, Fetch a Cure recognized two wonderful people for their hard work and extraordinary dedication to the health, safety and comfort of area pets.

Mr. Paul Carr of Car Pool Car Wash was honored with the 2013 Inspiration award and Dr. Angharad Waite of Dogwood practice partner The Oncology Service was awarded the 2013 Knowledge Award. Both Dr. Waite and Mr. Carr are exceptional individuals and Dogwood is both excited to practice alongside Dr. Waite each day and to partner with Mr. Carr in our support of FETCH.

Here is an excerpt from the presentation given to acknowledge Dr.  Waite’s award:

FETCH a Cure is so fortunate and blessed to be surrounded by such amazing pets and people. Those that not only inspire us, but challenge us and then pave a road for us to reach greater heights, making it possible for us to do greater good for all the pets and their families in our community. It’s our pleasure and great honor to recognize these individuals who have moved us through their own compassion, knowledge and sheer selflessness.

2013 FETCH a Cure Knowledge Award – Dr. Angharad Waite
Dr. Waite joined The Oncology Service team at Dogwood Veterinary Emergency and Specialty Center in Richmond in late 2012. Dr. Waite’s history with The Oncology Service however extends all the way back to her first summer break from UPENN. At that time she worked as a summer intern with Drs. Chand Khanna and Tony Rusk. She was inspired by the opportunity to give people hope and options after they had often been given the worst news possible about their pets. It was then that Angharad knew she wanted to be a veterinary oncologist.

Coming to join The Oncology Service in Richmond has been a dream come true. Her personal belief is that she can always find some way to improve the quality of life of her patients.

Angharad is grateful for the opportunity to work with Dr. Khanna again as this has allowed her the ability to offer novel therapies to clients. Additionally, the funding provided by Fetch A Cure has allowed many clients to pursue cancer therapies for their pets that would otherwise have been impossible for the families.

We thank her for her kindness, grace and expertise in caring for the pets in our community. FETCH a Cure is proud to consider her a partner and friend and present her with this award tonight.
